According to recent safe digging data:
• 27,946 utility damages were reported in a single year
• 76% occurred with no 811 ticket in place
The takeaway? Most damage is preventable.
Contacting 811 and following proper procedures isn’t just a recommendation—it’s one of the simplest ways to reduce risk, avoid costly repairs, and protect lives.
At GeoPoint, we’re committed to safer work sites and utility damage prevention, helping teams plan smarter, locate accurately, and dig with confidence.

Before any shovel hits the ground, following safe digging practices isn’t just recommended—it’s critical to protecting people, infrastructure, and your project timeline.
The essentials are simple, but powerful:
✔ Plan your project
✔ Notify 811 before you dig
✔ Wait for utilities to be marked
✔ Confirm all responses
✔ Protect the marks
✔ Dig with care
At GeoPoint, we’re committed to safer work sites and utility damage prevention.
These steps help prevent costly damage, service disruptions, and serious safety risks.

Too often, training programs overcomplicate material—layering in jargon, theory overload, and dense curriculum that leaves students overwhelmed. We take a different path.
• We teach with simplicity and structure
• We break concepts down until they fully click
• We build in purposeful redundancy to reinforce learning
• We stand in our students’ shoes to understand how they learn best
Utility locating is high-stakes work. Crews need confidence, not confusion. That’s why our training is designed for real-world field performance—clear, practical, and repeatable.
When students leave GeoPoint Academy, they don’t just “complete a course.” They understand the work.

Utility locating mistakes aren’t minor setbacks. They carry real financial, operational, and safety consequences, and too often, they’re preventable.
Consider the risk:
• $56K — average cost of a single utility strike
• $61B annually — lost to inefficiencies tied to 811 processes
• 62% of workers — lack formal safety training
Without standardized, accredited training, crews are left exposed to unnecessary risk, on the jobsite and for the organizations that depend on them.
That’s exactly why GeoPoint Academy exists. Built from real-world field standards and led by active industry professionals, GeoPoint Academy delivers NULCA-accredited, simulator-driven training designed to reduce risk, improve accuracy, and elevate safety from day one.
Better training isn’t just an investment in skills. It’s an investment in safer crews, stronger projects, and fewer costly mistakes.

This 50-acre, waterfront live/work/play community in downtown Tampa is the result of thoughtful planning and complex execution, bringing together residential, retail, office, education, and cultural spaces. GeoPoint began work on the project in 2017 providing critical land development and construction support services, including vertical control lines and building staking.
As the project evolved, so did our role. GeoPoint’s team leveraged forward-thinking survey technology to support engineers and contractors by reviewing construction calculations, scanning building components for anomalies, and verifying critical elements like elevator shaft plumbness.
When a construction setback emerged on Block C—where a complex, sculpture-like structure supporting an enclosed catwalk was discovered to be undersized—GeoPoint’s Remote Sensing / LiDAR team was called in. Within hours, a 3D scan identified exactly where calculations had diverged from the design, allowing engineers and crews to make precise corrections without costly delays.
This is what setting the standard looks like:

✔ Fast, accurate problem solving on complex builds
✔ Long-term partnership from planning through completion

A big congratulations to Bob Hudson, Steve McMahon, Tyler Webb, and Derek Wilcox, who brought home the First Annual TBMSF First Place Team Trophy! 🏆💥

Props Craft Brewery/ The Green at Hammock Bay
This community event is one of our favorites—bringing together the Bluegrass on the Green Music Festival, the Hammock Bay Farmer’s Market, and a night of fun for the whole family.
Even more importantly, this year’s event benefits two incredible organizations making a difference locally: Children’s Volunteer Health Network and Caring & Sharing.
We’re honored to support our community through events like this and can’t wait to see everyone out on the Green!
